Position Summary

HRPA is looking for volunteers to serve on the Academic Standards Committee (ASC).  The ASC is currently comprised of HRPA volunteers who are responsible for reviewing course outlines submitted by post-secondary educational institutions (Colleges and Universities) seeking to have one or more courses approved in the fulfillment of HRPA’s coursework requirement for the CHRP and CHRL designations. These courses include: HR Management, HR Planning, Compensation, Training and Development, Recruitment and Selection, Finance and Accounting, Labour Relations, Occupational Health and Safety, and Organizational Behaviour.

Who May Sit on this Committee

  • HRPA members with a CHRP, CHRL, or CHRE designation
  • HRPA members
  • Non-members

Skills & Experience

The skills and experience we are looking for include the ones set out below. Please ensure relevant skills and experience are set out on your résumé or in a cover note.

  • University and College teaching experience in the field of human resources management/labour relations
  • Familiarity with curricula and course outlines
  • Thorough knowledge of at least several of HRPA’s nine subject areas. Having a Professional Designation from the Human Resources Professionals Association would be an asset, but is not a requirement

HRPA is looking to recruit up to two volunteers teaching at the College or University levels.

Time Commitment

The Academic Standards Committee meets in panels of three approximately 4-5 times a year virtually. A business meeting will also be held once a year (in-person or virtual).

Each committee member serves a three-year term, renewable to a maximum of three terms (nine years in total). The volunteer year begins June 1, 2025.

       ·       ensure you understand the public-interest nature of serving on a regulatory committee.
