Position Summary
HRPA is looking for volunteers to serve on the Experience Assessment Committee (EAC). The mandate of the EAC is to make determinations as to the appropriateness and adequacy of the experience of individuals who are seeking to fulfill the Validation of Experience (VOE) requirement or individuals who are seeking to meet the coursework requirement via the Alternate Route (AR) - Experience Stream in accordance with HRPA By-laws and Board approved policies.

Skills & Experience
The skills and experience we are looking for include the ones set out below. Please ensure relevant skills and experience are set out on your résumé or in a cover note.
- Public service mindedness and congruence with values
- Having a good understanding of professional regulation, its purpose, and methods
- Having a basic understanding of governance as it applies to professional regulation and regulatory committees
- Having a solid understanding of procedural fairness and the requirements of the Statutory Powers Procedure Act, 1990
- Being a good listener. Having an ability and willingness to consider all evidence before making a judgment, does not jump to conclusions
- Having good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team
- Sensitivity to diversity and inclusivity issues
- Self-awareness (having an awareness of where one’s biases and blind spots are)
- Being dependable and having the ability to deliver on commitments made and willingness to participate in non-hearing related matters affecting the Committee, e.g. training of new Committee members.

Time Commitment
VOE and AR applications are reviewed monthly by panels of three Committee members. The number of applications vary monthly, and panel members will be on rotation to review applications. You should expect to sit on at least one panel reviewing 12-18 applications every other month on average.
Committee work and application assessments are done remotely via email and/or by teleconference.
The EAC meets twice a year for two business meetings lasting between 3-4 hours during business hours. Business meetings are currently held virtually.
Each committee member serves a three-year term, renewable to a maximum of three terms (nine years in total). The volunteer year begins June 1, 2025.
