Description:

ATTENTION ALL SENIOR HR PROFESSIONALS!!!

Are you a seasoned HR Professional and interested in volunteering as a Judge for the 3rd annual HRPA Student Case Competition taking place on Saturday, March 21st, if so, then please read on and we look forward to hearing from you!

The purpose of this HR Case Competition is to provide HR students throughout Ontario with a compelling learning experience that will inspire healthy competition, deepen professionalism and develop strategic competence as HR Professionals. As a Judge you will play an integral role in crafting and shaping this amazing experience for all the budding HR students involved. As a participant, you will be sure to cherish the wonderful memories made during this unique, dynamic, exciting, rewarding and fulfilling volunteer experience.

Details:

The event will be held at George Brown College (Waterfront Campus – 51 Dockside Dr., Toronto, ON). Teams will consist of students in the final year of their Human Resources program. Growing steadily in popularity, this year we are hosting our largest contingent yet with teams representing 14 different Universities and Colleges throughout Ontario. You and your fellow Judges (approximately 12 in total) will spend an exciting and stimulating afternoon evaluating Team presentations as the competition progresses towards the inevitable goal of determining which crew emerges victorious.

Prizing will be given to all members of the first though third place teams but only the championship team will take home the HR Business Excellence Trophy; bragging rights for the year with their school name permanently etched thereon for all to see forevermore!

The selected Judges will receive an official package a few weeks prior to the Case Competition with further details such as the Case Competition Day Agenda, Structure, and the confidential HR Business Case, Criteria, and Evaluation Scoring System. On-site volunteers will also be available the day of the event to assist with logistics.

If you are interested in participating as a Judge, please note the criteria to submit your expression of interest as follows:

  • Ten or more years of experience at a senior human resources level, e.g. Director, Vice President, CHRO with demonstrated background and progressive responsibility overseeing an HR Department. In addition, closely related HR professions may also be considered, such as Professors of HR (who are not in an ethical conflict situation with the participating HR Student Teams).
  • The HR Designations CHRE and CHRL are considered assets (but not mandatory).
  • A related undergraduate or College Degree is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred OR equivalent HR executive background, knowledge & experience will also be considered.
  • Must be available for full day event on March 21, 2020.
Please submit your expression of interest and profile/resume (maximum 3 pages total) by February 28, 2020 to Student Affairs Committee email - sac@hrpatoronto.ca

Please note that there are limited spaces for Judges (approximately 12), so please apply as soon as possible. The selection of Judges will be based on the criteria noted in this email, as well as other criteria such as ensuring a broad mix of industries and backgrounds to optimize the evaluation and feedback experience for the participating students’ teams.
