Position Summary:
The Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) is the professional regulator for HR professionals in Ontario, with a focus on protecting members of the public (employees, employers and workplaces) from potential risks of harm stemming from the practice of HR.
Our Professional Standards Committee (PSC) is currently looking to recruit two designated HRPA registrants (CHRP, CHRL or CHRE) with an interest in fair and ethical HR practice, policy development and professional regulation.
The PSC is a policy and oversight committee that oversees the establishment, maintenance, development and enforcement of professional standards for members, students and firms registered with the Association, including:
- Standards of qualification
- Standards of practice
- Standards of professional ethics
- Standards of knowledge, skills and proficiency
As a member of the Professional Standards Committee, you would be asked to review and comment on policy proposals, participate in smaller working groups to assist with the development of draft guidance documents and provide your feedback on proposed changes to the standards of qualification for HRPA registrants.
Skills & Qualifications:
The individuals we are looking for should be open and engaged, and not afraid to share their opinions. While policy development and regulatory experience would be an asset, what we are primarily looking for is input and an understanding of the impact of the practice of HR on individuals and organizations.
Time Commitment:
About six 1-hour meetings annually plus preparation work and participation in smaller working groups = 36 hours per year
Each committee member serves a three-year term renewable to a maximum of three terms (nine years total). The volunteer year would begin June 1, 2023.
If you are interested in volunteering for the Professional Standards Committee and you meet all of the criteria identified above, please click apply to submit your most recent resume. Only eligible candidates will be contacted, and if selected a background check will be completed.
Committee appointments are conditional on the completion of the Regulatory Committee Boot Camp. The Boot Camp will be recorded and archived for individuals who miss the live recording. Please keep in mind that you may only volunteer for one committee. If you have any questions, contact HRPA.
