Grand Valley - Social Media Specialist – Twitter & Instagram

Start Date: June 1st, 2019

Position Summary:

The Social Media Specialist – Twitter & Instagram is responsible for assisting in the implementation of an effective social media strategy. This role executes the day-to-day social media presence to build brand awareness and community engagement, as well as attending monthly Marketing and Communications Committee team meetings and providing updates and recommendations.

Role Responsibilities

·         Enhance the chapter’s presence on the social media channels

·         Maintain the day-to-day management of the Chapter’s Twitter and Instagram account

·         Develop a social media content calendar for the social media channel

·         Collaborate to maintain consistency in message and scheduling across all platforms

·         Create and follow a Twitter Chat etiquette and management guidelines

·         Create and share content to increase interest and membership in the Chapter

·         Curate content that is current and relevant to the field of Human Resources

·         Identify other HRPA social media accounts to follow that may provide additional appropriate content

·         Engage, monitor, and respond to ongoing conversations by followers

·         Ensure all content is consistent and meets the HRPA guidelines and branding requirements and aligns with the Chapter’s strategy

·         Prepare reports on social media trends and themes

·         Share observations with the Marketing and Communications Committee team during monthly meetings

Essential Skills & Abilities:

·         Understanding of email, web and social media industry best practices

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·         Excellent time management and organizational skills

·         Exceptional attention to detail and follow through

·         Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

·         Ability to think strategically and think outside of the box

·         Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships

·         A results-driven mindset and experience with social media communications and emerging trends including social media listening and reporting tools


Qualifications

·         HRPA-GV membership in good standing is required

·         Post-secondary education in progress or completed

·         Past work or volunteer experience in Social Media, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or Journalism is an asset


Time Commitment:

5-10 hours per month
