As the Marketing and Communications Committee Chair you will be responsible for assisting the Marketing and Communications Director in executing the Grand Valley’s marketing and communication strategy to ensure connectivity with the membership and within the community at large. You will lead committee members to ensure social media, website and electronic communications content is relevant, current and accurate.   You will also liaise with HRPA Directors and Committee Chairs to keep our chapter information displayed accurately within social media and on the website.  You will lead, mentor and manage a social media specialist team while being accountable for timely work execution. You will also be responsible to coordinate monthly meetings of the Marketing and Communications Committee.

Role Responsibilities

·        Assist the Director in executing the Marketing and Communications portfolio plan

·        Manage the Marketing and Communications social media specialists and hold them accountable to their objectives

·        Work with the Events, Volunteers, Mentorship, and PNG Chairs to ensure timely communication regarding scheduled events and suggest communication methods for advertising

·        Assist portfolio in providing consistent messaging to membership

·        Assist in identifying and executing social media strategies

·        Assist portfolios in devising marketing and communications strategies that will align to membership needs

·        Look to other Chapter communication strategies and leverage best practices where possible

·        Ensure communication strategies employed and recommended are in line with communication best practices and take into account evolving trends to ensure members and non-members are maximally reached

Essential Skills & Abilities:

·        Previous experience as a volunteer with the GVHRPA within the communications portfolio is preferred

·        Strong Human Resources knowledge

·        Strong attention to detail

·        Excellent written and communications skills

·        Ability to think strategically

·        Conflict resolution skills

·        Previous experience leading people and/or teams

·        Ability to build and maintain relationships

·        Ability to work within ‘grey’ parameters and make independent decisions as appropriate while still consulting with the Director where appropriate.

 

Assets:

·        CHRP Designation

·        Post-Secondary education in Communications or Journalism

·        Previous experience managing a website and social media content

Time Commitment:

15-20 hours per month
