Committee Mandate
The mandate of the Review Committee is to review every matter referred to it by the Registrar under section 40 of the Act to determine whether the member or firm’s bankruptcy or insolvency event may pose a risk of harm to the public. The Review Committee is a statutory committee which means that its mandate and powers are set out in legislation.
Skills & Qualifications
All members of the Review Committee must have the CHRL or CHRE designation, except for public members.
Time Commitment
Members of the Review Committee would be called upon to assess cases on an as-needed basis via conference calls. The process for a single case can involve multiple meeting and it is difficult to predict the time commitment that this role will require; however, a rough estimate would be 20 hours per year. All conference calls will be scheduled during business hours. Before the meetings, you will be required to familiarize yourself with the case reviewing any information provided. Furthermore, given the nature of these cases, once you’re assigned to a review panel your attendance is mandatory.
In addition to reviewing cases, members of the committee will be required to attend an in-person annual business meeting, typically 3 hours in length. Travel to HRPA’s Toronto office may be required. Travel costs will be reimbursed in accordance with HRPA's travel policy.
Experience working on regulatory adjudicative committees is preferred but not required. Additionally, a career background in accounting and financial services is preferred but not neccessary.
If you are currently volunteering on another HRPA committee, you are ineligible to apply for this opportunity. You may only sit on one HRPA committee per term.
