The Academic Standards Diploma Committee shall review every course outline(s) and any accompanying, relevant, supplementary material submitted by eligible post-secondary educational institutions that offer college diploma, advanced diploma, and graduate certificate (post-diploma certificate) level courses and individual members seeking to have one or more courses approved at college diploma, advanced diploma, and graduate certificate (post-diploma certificate) level in the fulfillment of HRPA’s coursework requirement (course approval), making a decision pertaining thereto, and providing rationale in accordance with the criteria as established by the Board. Ministry approved HR courses within an established HR program are exempted.
Skills & Qualifications:
The qualifications we are looking for include but are not limited to:
- Experience teaching at post-secondary educational institutions that have Ministry approval to offer college diploma, advanced diploma, and graduate certificate (post-diploma certificate) level courses in Ontario and that offer HRPA-approved courses
- Understanding of HRPA’s standard course outlines
- A basic understanding of psychometric principles—validity and reliability
- An ability to use assessment grids as established
- Awareness of one’s own biases
Time Commitment:
The Academic Standards Diploma Committee meets in panels of three to review, assess and discuss courses via a 1-hour teleconference call during business hours. The length of deliberations may include a greater time commitment depending on the complexity and amount of the courses to assess. A panel may meet anywhere between 3-5 times per year, depending on the volume of courses received each year. Prior to discussing the courses via teleconference, it is expected that the Committee Member will be prepared and have reviewed and made notes on their own for the courses to be discussed.
Additionally, the Academic Standards Diploma Committee will meet for one business meeting with a duration of one to two hours.

Please note that any committee appointment would be conditional on the completion of the Boot Camp and do keep in mind that you may only volunteer for one committee. The Boot Camp will be recorded and archived for individuals who are not able to attend the live recording.
